Popular Variations of Poker

Poker is a card game with the largest number of variations in the world of casino games. The variations are developed using different methods including changes in the number of cards being dealt, betting structure, changes regarding wild card acceptance, draw rules, community cards and more. The popularly played poker variations are Holdem poker, Stud poker and Draw poker, each with their own set of further variants.

Holdem Poker is a community card game in which the poker hand is created in reference to the pocket cards set against the board card. The variation further has two variants – Texas Holdem and Omaha Holdem.

The basic different both the variants is that in the first variant is played using 2 pocket cards, while the second one is played with 4 pocket cards. The Omaha variant requires you to use 2 pocket and 3 board cards. The Texas Holdem is considered far easier by veterans because betting and reading 2 plus 3 strategy in Omaha can sometimes become quite challenging. Hence, if you choose to play Holdem Poker, Texas Holdem is your best bet.

Holdem has other variants that are based on pot splitting. These variants are limit games and no limit games, high-low split games and pot limit games. In the limit games the bidding amount are always restricted, while in the no limit games, there are no betting limits.

In pot limit games, the bet amount requires to be equal to the present pot limit.

In Stud and Draw Poker variations, the variants are created by mixing high split, low split and limits. Stud poker games are not based on community board games, and hands can be achieved by replacing or drawing the present cards.

Even though the basics in all variations of Poker remain the same, but the rules keep changing from one variation to another.
